The Un-nameable (July 2, 2007)

Mon Jul 2, 2007, 11:10 AM
What is that quality? It's not Humanity, but it's close. Humanity is the word for the things that make us human, the great levellers that we all share. But it contains Humanity.

It's not Honor, but it can contain Honor. What makes up Honor is a cultural thing, varying from people to people, based on what makes a 'good' person within the confines of the particular society.

It's not Dignity, but again it's close. Dignity is respect for the self, the ability to look in the mirror each day.

It's not Integrity, but it includes Integrity. Integrity is the ability to set standards and hold yourself to them.

The Romans had a word similar to it, but not exactly. 'Virtus, virtutis', basically, virtues that are Roman. Essentially, things that make a 'good' Roman. It's a word that strictly applies to their culture, but is similar in a a way.

So what is that quality, that encompasses all of these things, the one that gets us through? Am I making any sense at all? Does anyone know the word I'm looking for?

ryan, the box thing w/ recent visitors is a feature for subscribers, as denoted by his * before his name. Non-subscribers have a ~, like you and me. Beta testers have a =. Banned members have a !. The others you may see from time to time are probably mods of some sort.

Hope you read it, hope you think about it, hope it means something to you. Then again, odds are I don't really care!

You're quite welcome, some of those photographs are very deep, if you understand that. =)

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how did you get the box showing recent visitors onto your profile?
